She's Gone

She's Gone ,This book is my choice, written by Kwame Dawes. The book was given to me as a gift, and after reading about the author and seeing what the book was about, I thought It would be an interesting topic for our Book club.
Dawes means to examine the rub of black Jamaicans and black Southerners, of men and women, of dependency and love. He tries to shape these interests into a love story between Kofi, a reggae musician born in Ghana and raised in Jamaica, and Keisha, a sex researcher born in South Carolina and based in New York City.
We will see if Mr Dawes is able to pull this off successfully. :)

You are an Uncle Tom!!!!..... Why, thank you!!!

I like this book alot. I do wish we had read this in high school (in jamaica). The whole time i was going through this book i kept thinking,"why havent i read this before." I have heard the term "uncle tom" before, and after reading the book i just dont get it. How could anyone consider this character as a negative symbol?
